The Combe de Biaufond in spring

The last time we hiked the Combe de Biaufond was during periods when the trees had no leaves. Once it was in early December and another time in early March. Here, we decided to hike the Combe de Biaufond at a time when the trees were green. Another advantage is that since the vegetation had already grown, we did not see the various bits of rubbish that litter some parts of the dry bed of the Ronde.

From Biaufond, we followed the path along the small lake and into the Combe. After crossing a very wet area due to a small stream, we soon came across the first steps and bridges. After crossing to the other side, the path leads past a very impressive cave. After crossing the river four more times and crossing a few bridges and steps, we soon came to the ladders that allowed us to overcome the last obstacle. According to the historical maps, the path used to follow the bottom of the valley faithfully. When you see the state of the short section under the Cul des Prés, you are glad that there are ladders available.

From the Cul des Prés, we hiked a little further up to reach the Bas des Brandt farm. From this farm, a path that could do with a bit of maintenance leads back down to the starting point.
