La suite logique de la randonnée de la veille a été d’effectuer l’étape suivante de la Via Berna, entre Tramelan et Saint-Imier. Toutefois, j’avais décidé ici de ne pas suivre scrupuleusement l’itinéraire car j’étais intrigué par la boutonnière du Champ Meusel se trouvant juste au-dessus de Saint-Imier. Ce faisant, j’ai suivi un bout du Chemin de Mont Soleil au lieu de continuer sur la Via Berna.

Au départ de Tramelan, il s’agit d’abord d’atteindre la crête. Même si la montée est raide par endroits, on a l’avantage d’évoluer en forêt, ce qui permet de pouvoir rester au frais. C’est du côté de la Bise de Cortébert que le terrain devient de plus en plus découvert. Mais, à partir de cet endroit, la grande montée est effectuée. On passe alors près des premières éoliennes du Mont Crosin.

Juste avant le Col du Mont Crosin, une petite surprise nous est réservée puisque le sentier suit fidèlement la crête et deux bosses doivent être gravies de manière assez raide. Au col, on doit suivre un bout de la route, qui peut être très fréquentée par beau temps. Heureusement, le sentier franchit la route et traverse le grand parking du col. Ce faisant, on ne doit pas longer la route.

Après avoir traversé une forêt, on se retrouve à nouveau dans les pâturages dans lesquels se trouvent d’autres éoliennes. Nous nous étions arrêtés au pied d’une de celle-ci tout près des Demeurances. Certes, ces éoliennes ne sont pas tout à fait silencieuses, mais elles ne produisent pas non plus un bruit assourdissant.

Comme mentionné, nous sommes descendus en direction du Sergent au lieu de suivre fidèlement la Via Berna. Ce faisant, nous avons eu l’occasion de passer près du creux du Champ Meusel. Une hypothèse a circulé il y a quelque temps concernant l’origine de ce creux. Certains y voyaient un impact de météorite. En réalité, ce genre de formation n’est pas inhabituelle dans la chaîne du Jura et cette théorie a été abandonnée depuis. En revanche, la présence d’un marécage (qui avait été asséché un moment) s’explique par le fait qu’il existait un petit glacier dans le creux des Chenevières se situant juste au-dessus et qui descendant jusqu’au Champ Meusel.

La suite de l’itinéraire traverse la bourgade de Saint-Imier, et comme souvent dans ces cas, il faut être attentif à la navigation, faute de quoi, on risque de se retrouver complètement de l’autre côté de l’agglomération.

The logical continuation of the previous day’s hike was to make the next stage of the Via Berna, between Tramelan and Saint-Imier. However, here I decided not to follow the route scrupulously because I was intrigued by the cirque of the Champ Meusel just above Saint-Imier. In doing so, I followed one end of the Way to Mont Soleil route instead of continuing Via Berna.

From Tramelan, the first step is to reach the crest. Even if the climb is steep in places, you have the advantage of being in the woods, which allows you to stay cool. It is near the Bise de Cortébert that the terrain becomes more and more open. But from here, the great climb is made. We then pass near the first wind turbines of Mont Crosin.

Just before the Col du Mont Crosin, a small surprise is reserved for us since the trail follows the ridge faithfully and two bumps must be climbed quite steeply. At the pass, you must follow a stretch of the road, which can be very busy in good weather. Fortunately, the trail crosses the road and crosses the large parking lot at the pass, preventing the walk along the road.

After crossing a forest, you’re back in the pastures where there are other wind turbines. We stopped at the foot of one of them near Les Demeurances. These turbines aren’t completely silent, but they don’t make a deafening noise either.

As mentioned, we descended towards the Sergeant instead of following the Via Berna faithfully. In doing so, we had the opportunity to pass near the depression of the Champ Meusel. A hypothesis was circulated some time ago about the origin of this depression. Some thought it was a meteorite impact. In fact, this type of formation is not unusual in the Jura Mountains and this theory has since been abandoned. On the other hand, the presence of a swamp (which had been dried up for a while) is explained by the fact that there was a small glacier in the Chenevières hollow just above and which runs down to the Champ Meusel.

The rest of the itinerary passes through the town of Saint-Imier, and as is often the case in these cases, you must pay attention to navigation, otherwise you may find yourself completely on the other side of the town.

Die logische Fortsetzung der Wanderung vom Vortag war die nächste Etappe der Via Berna zwischen Tramelan und Saint-Imier. Allerdings hatte ich mich hier entschieden, der Route nicht genau zu folgen, da ich von dem Kessel des Champ Meusel direkt oberhalb von Saint-Imier fasziniert war. Dabei ging ich ein Stück des Mont Soleil Weges, anstatt auf der Via Berna weiterzuwandern.

Wenn man von Tramelan ausgeht, muss man zuerst den Kamm erreichen. Obwohl der Aufstieg an einigen Stellen steil ist, hat man den Vorteil, dass man sich im Wald befindet, so dass man sich in der Frische bewegen kann. Bei der Bise de Cortébert wird das Gelände immer offener. Aber bis zu dieser Stelle hat man der grosse Aufstieg überwunden. Dann kommt man an den ersten Windturbinen des Mont Crosin vorbei.

Kurz vor dem Col du Mont Crosin wartet eine kleine Überraschung auf uns, denn der Weg folgt genau dem Kamm und zwei Höhen müssen recht steil bestiegen werden. Beim Col du Mont Crosin muss man einem Teil der Strasse folgen, die bei schönem Wetter sehr befahren wird. Zum Glück überquert der Weg die Strasse und führt über den grossen Parkplatz des Passes. Dabei wandert man nicht die Strasse entlang.

Nachdem wir einen Wald durchquert haben, finden wir uns wieder auf den Weiden, auf denen sich weitere Windturbinen befinden. Wir haben am Fusse einer Windturbine in der Nähe des Hofs Les Demeurances angehalten. Die Windturbinen sind zwar nicht ganz leise, aber sie erzeugen auch kein ohrenbetäubendes Geräusch.

Wie bereits erwähnt, gingen wir hinunter in Richtung Sergent, anstatt genau der Via Berna zu folgen. Dabei hatten wir die Möglichkeit, an der Vertiefung des Champ Meusel vorbeizukommen. Vor einiger Zeit kursierte eine Vermutung über den Ursprung dieser Vertiefung. Einige sahen darin einen Meteoriteneinschlag. Tatsächlich ist diese Formation im Jura nichts Ungewöhnliches, und diese Theorie wurde inzwischen aufgegeben. Das Vorhandensein eines Sumpfes (der eine Weile ausgetrocknet war) erklärt sich dagegen aus der Tatsache, dass es in der Mulde der Chenevières einen kleinen Gletscher gab, der direkt oberhalb des Champ Meusel hinabfliess.

Die weitere Route führt durch die Ortschaft Saint-Imier, und wie so oft muss man auf die Navigation achten, sonst läuft man Gefahr, sich auf der anderen Seite des Ortes wiederzufinden.
