I don’t really feel like adding another blog post about the Areuse Gorges. The place is so popular that it doesn’t need any more promotion. That is also why we went there on a somewhat uncertain weather day.
We started in Chambrelien and headed towards Champ-du-Moulin on the small path that runs above the railway line. This path is somewhat exposed in places and is much less frequented than the path along the gorges. There are some beautiful viewpoints along this path, making it a nice destination.
At Champ-du-Moulin, we followed the Areuse Gorges path, but at the Pont des Clées, we left it to climb back up to Chambrelien and also to avoid the most popular parts of the gorges. Despite what one might think, the climb up to Chambrelien is pleasant, as it is in the shade of the trees.
