The Crêt de la Neuve

Should we say La Neuve or A Neuve? I couldn’t find a plausible explanation. Anyway, the summit located right next to this chalet is worth a little detour, because it is surprising. When one climbs the Crêt de la Neuve, the view is often hidden by the trees, and one despairs of being able to contemplate Lake Geneva and the Alps. It is only in the last meters that one goes beyond the tops of the trees and the view is completely clear. Because of this view, it is quite a busy peak.

From Saint-George, there are several possibilities, but the simplest is to follow the road leading to the Glacière and then take a fairly steep forest path. One then finds a vague green markup. If one follows this one, one passes through surprising and very different places than when one follows the officially marked path.

Arrived at the Petit Pré de Rolle, follow the official path to the clearing under the summit. One can then climb the steep slope below the summit. It does not take long then to arrive at the round wall on which is fixed an orientation table. It is also worth going to the summit itself, which is behind the orientation table (where the cross is).

For the descent, I had opted to follow the road through Les Frasses. In a bend, all one has to do is take another road on the left leading back to the road to the cooler and further on to the car park.
